Mechanical Engineer — Piping — Job Description

Job Summary

ACI Mechanical is seeking an experienced mechanical or process engineer to manage the complete design process for piping systems for commercial and industrial buildings. This role involves overseeing projects from the initial concept through installation, testing, and commissioning all systems within industry standards.

Duties

  • Manage the full-cycle design and layout of piping systems
  • Solid understanding of piping systems, including process liquids, steam and condensate, compressed air, chilled and heating water, plumbing systems, waste and vent, storm water and more
  • Develop project specifications and select all related equipment such as: boilers, chillers, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation, as well as compatible materials
  • Conduct project building and energy code compliances as required
  • Complete all pressure drop calculations for sizing pipe
  • Develop detailed drawings, technical specifications, and cost-effective proposals
  • Perform field surveys and construction site visits
  • Attend design meetings with clients and partners, along with pre-construction and post-construction meetings
  • Communicate information with Project Management, Procurement, and all other trade disciplines
  • Manage multiple projects varying in scope simultaneously
  • Display proficiency in AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Revit
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Licensed, professional engineer with approximately 5 years’ experience in construction or other related fields
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, construction, or other related engineering fields
  • Driving record meets company requirements
  • Successful passing of pre-employment drug screening required

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Primarily works in the office with expected travel to job sites. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, loud noises, and more within OSHA standards when visiting the jobsite. Employees may be exposed to outdoor conditions that include inclement weather such as heat, humidity, cold, wind, and dust. May be expected to carry up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, stand for long periods of time, walk for moderate-to-long distances on varying surface conditions, climb, crawl, crouch, reach, grip, push, and pull without issue.
