This 1-million-square-foot campus in Ames, Iowa, represents one of the most complex high-containment research environments in the United States. Our role was pivotal in delivering the core mechanical life-safety systems that support the nation's premier animal health research mission.
Engineering for biosecurity requires zero-tolerance for failure. ACI Mechanical implemented sophisticated HVAC solutions for BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratory suites, focusing on critical differential pressure control and airtight ductwork integrity. Our installation included high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration systems and custom exhaust strategies designed to prevent the escape of zoonotic agents.
The NCAH project demanded specialized utility networks capable of handling sensitive biological waste. ACI Mechanical specialized in the installation of high-grade stainless steel process piping and Effluent Decontamination Systems (EDS). These systems utilize industrial-scale P-traps, specialized valving, and steam-jacketed decontamination units to ensure that all liquid waste is biologically neutralized before leaving the facility. Our precision welding and material selection guarantee long-term corrosion resistance and system reliability.
ACI Mechanical successfully executed the critical mechanical infrastructure for USDA NCAH campus. This project, vital to national biosecurity, demanded the highest precision in HVAC and piping systems. Our team installed BSL-2 and BSL-3 high-containment laboratories, specialized stainless steel piping for decontamination effluents, high-performance air handling units (AHU), and sophisticated differential pressure controls. This world-class facility supports the most significant research and diagnostics for global animal health.
