The Shooting Star project in Elkhart, Iowa, is a project that ACI stepped in to help the owner redesign to get within their project budget. The original design at this daycare included a DOAS system to supply fresh air to the furnaces serving each of the classrooms. Once ACI was on the team, we removed the DOAS unit and provided roof-mounted supply and exhaust fans to ensure the building received the correct amount of air exchanges. When all was finished, the ACI design team cut the mechanical budget by nearly 20%, giving them a functioning HVAC system. Today, the owner of the daycare is pleased with the savings.
